Five people were fined after they were found breaking lockdown rules by having drinks and listening to music in Kettering.

Police attended the party just after midnight on January 17 in Stamford Road, where they found people in attendance who were all from different households.

Three women, aged 21, 24 and 37, and two men, aged 34 and 22, were all given a fine.

A police spokesman said it was a 'clear breach' of Covid-19 restrictions.

They said: "Please follow the Covid guidelines and stay at home."

The incident is the latest to be dealt with by Northamptonshire Police, who dished out 400 Covid fines for lockdown breaches in the first nine days of the latest restrictions.

Last week three men were fined for having a lockdown takeaway and beers in Corby.

And over the weekend a birthday boy in Wellingborough was also given a fine after having a celebration - before proceeding to call a police officer who was called to the scene a criminal.

Last week Kettering General Hospital intensive care matron Jo Snow said nurses were on the brink of tears after seeing blatant lockdown breaches and comments from people claiming the virus is a hoax.

The Rothwell Road hospital is currently under extreme pressure because of the number of Covid patients it is caring for.

Patient numbers are so high that the children's ward is being temporarily moved from the Skylard ward to elsewhere within the hospital so free up more beds for Covid patients.
