Driver of stolen car runs off after collision in Corby

Police in Corby are appealing for witnesses after a car stolen in a burglary was involved in a collision.

The offenders broke into the house in Lincoln Way some time between 9pm on Thursday, June 26, and 9.15pm on Friday, June 27, stealing a set of car keys which they then used to steal a car.

At about 9.20pm on Friday the car, a silver Renault Scenic, was involved in a collision at the junction with Sower Leys Road and Bankside, in Corby.

The driver of the Renault left the scene, running off towards Butterwick Walk.

He was white, aged 25 to 30, about 5ft 8in and stocky and short black hair.

He was wearing a white T-shirt and black jogging bottoms and spoke with an Eastern European accent.

Witnesses to either the burglary or the collision, or anyone with any information, are asked to contact Northamptonshire Police on 101.
