Dirt bike rider crashed into woman as she walked along Northampton street... then drove off

A 38-year-old woman could face up to 10 hours of surgery and a three-month stay in hospital after a dirt bike hit her as she walked along a pavement in Northampton.

The woman was walking in Grafton Street, Northampton, towards Spencer Bridge Road, when an off-road style motorcycle collided with her, knocking her over and leaving her unconscious.

The incident happened on Friday, July 29 between 1pm and 1.45pm.

The rider made off in an unknown direction, a police spokeswoman said, leaving the woman with a broken pelvis and fractured hip.

The woman’s injuries mean that she could now face a 12-month recovery programme.
