Detectives open robbery case over snatched tenner in Northampton town centre

Police are treating as robbery a row over a dropped tenner in Northampton town centre on Tuesday lunchtime.

A man accidentally let the note slip while walking near Turtle Bay restaurant in Gold Street between 12.20pm and 1.30pm.

He picked up the cash but was grabbed on the arm by another man who claimed the £10 was his, snatched the note out of his hand and walked off.

A 24-year-old man arrested in connection with the incident has been released but remains under investigation pending further enquiries.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: "We are keen to hear from anyone who was in the Gold Street area on Tuesday lunchtime and may have seen this incident, or could have information which could help our investions. Please call us on 101 using incident number 20000469915."
