Detectives hunt mystery man who filmed brutal assault in Northampton town centre

Detectives are hunting an attacker who beat his victim in Northampton town centre— and a second man who filmed the shocking assault.

Police revealed the victim was attacked near Argos in the middle of Monday morning on the first day non-essential shops were allowed to reopen in the town centre.

Officers have issued photos of two two men they believe may have key information and are urging them to come forward to help.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: "The victim was approached in the Argos depot car park at about 11am on Monday, June 15. He suffered a cut to the back of his head and bruising to his body during the assault while another man stood nearby filming.

"We have now issued two photos of men we believe may have information about this incident. We would ask them to come forward to help us, or, if anyone recognises them please call us on 101, quoting incident number 20000302922 — alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
