Corby man found not guilty of sex assault

A Corby man who was accused of a sex assault in the town has been found not guilty.

Craig Rooney, 37, had been charged with sexual assault after an incident involving a woman in her 20s in Ribblesdale Avenue in the early hours of January 19.

Rooney, of Holmfirth Walk, denied the offence and a trial was held at Northampton Crown Court.

A jury returned not guilty verdicts.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: "Northamptonshire Police is not looking for anyone else in relation to this investigation.

"The case will remain filed at this time and will be re-opened if new evidence or new lines of enquiry are identified."
