Callous thieves stole the contents of a large bottle of coins being saved for charity at a social club.

Police are appealing for information about the break-in at the Argyll Social Club in Argyll Street, Kettering, during the early hours of Saturday, April 13.

A police spokesman said: “At some time between 5am and 8am, an offender forced entry into the premises by prising open a UPVC door which is accessed via an old fire escape.

“The offender then opened a coin box for the snooker table and smashed open the wooden door to a fruit machine.

“They also emptied the contents of a large bottle of coins, saved for a charity, which was on the bar.”
