But on the way Armour, of Newman Street in Burton Latimer, repeatedly threatened an officer and launched a tirade of racist abuse.

Earlier this month he admitted criminal damage and using racially aggravated threatening, abusive or insulting words towards the officer.

Magistrates sitting in Northampton sentenced him to a community order with 100 hours of unpaid work. The sentence included an 'uplift' of 30 hours because of the incident's racist nature.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: “None of our police officers come to work to be assaulted or abused.

"It is not ‘part of the job’ and it disgusts us that a very small minority of people think it’s acceptable.

“The way in which Armour treated this officer is repulsive and we want to make it crystal clear that will always pursue these type of people as they violate our officers’ right to be safe as they carry out their duty of fighting crime and protecting the public in Northamptonshire.”

Armour must also pay compensation of £50, court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £90.
