Burgled former shoe factory building in Northamptonshire featured in Kinky Boots

Burglars broke into a disused shoe factory in Northamptonshire once used in the film Kinky Boots with a crowbar before causing damage inside.

The former GT Hawkins building in Dunster Street, The Mounts, Northampton was broken into at about 6.30pm on Wednesday, December 30.

Three men got inside the property, but fled after they were disturbed. It is not known if anything was taken from inside the building, but some damage was caused.

The three men were all white. The first was in his early 30s, about 5ft 11 inches and of medium build. He was wearing tight fitting black trousers, a tight black top and a black balaclava.

The second man about 6ft, stocky, and was also wearing black clothes.

GT Hawkins became famous for making walking and climbing boots, as well as making military footwear, but closed in 2000.

The building was used for a number of exterior shots in the 2005 film Kinky Boots.
