A would-be burglar fled empty handed after being disturbed trying to force their way into a house in Earls Barton.

Detectives are appealing for information after the occupant foiled the break-in in Hornby Road, which is off Elizabeth Way in the village.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: "The incident took place between midnight and 4am on Tuesday, September 8, when the offender or offenders attempted to force open a rear door.

"No access was gained, however, after the offender or offenders were disturbed by the occupant.

"Our officers would still like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this incident, may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area between the stated times, or may have security camera footage in the area of Horny Road.
