Boy caught with knives in Kettering

A 16-year-old boy must take part in work to address knife crime after he was caught with two weapons in Kettering.

The teenager, who can't be named for legal reasons, appeared before magistrates in Northampton last week after he was arrested by police.

He admitted possession of a kitchen knife in Stamford Road and possession of a steak knife in Linden Avenue, with both offences taking place on February 26.

He also admitted possession of cannabis in Stamford Road after he was caught on December 29.

Magistrates referred to the youth offending service for 12 months to take part in work addressing knife crime, victim awareness and drug misuse.

He will sign a contract about the rehabilitation work he will undertake and can be brought back before the courts if he breaches it.

The boy must pay a total of £106.
