Boy, 16, charged with Irchester attempted murder

A 16-year-old boy will appear at court this morning charged with attempting to murder a man in Irchester.

The boy, who is from Markfield in Leicestershire but cannot be named for legal reasons, is accused of being involved in an incident in the early hours of New Year's Day.

Three men and a woman were left with stab wounds at Gypsy Lane Caravan Park in Gipsy Lane, near Irchester Country Park.

The boy has been charged with attempted murder, two counts of wounding with intent, one count of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a machete.

He is due to appear before Northampton Magistrates' Court this morning (Thursday).

As a result of the attack at about 4.40am one man was taken to University Hospital Coventry with stab wounds to his face and neck and multiple injuries including a broken leg.

The female victim was taken to the same hospital with a stab wound to her torso and two other men were taken to Northampton General Hospital with stab wounds.

Six other men have already been charged in connection with the incident.

They are Thomas McDonagh, 24, of Copt Oak Road, Markfield, John Paul McDonagh, 37, of no fixed address, Bernard Joseph McDonagh, 19, of Copt Oak Road, Markfield, Patrick McDonagh, 36, of Copt Oak Road, Markfield and Charlie Christopher McDonagh, 20, of Bescot Croft, Birmingham, and Edward McDonagh Jnr., 20, of Orr Park, Northern Ireland.
