Blaze at former Wellingborough snooker hall treated as arson

Investigators believe a huge blaze at a former snooker hall in Wellingborough last night was started deliberately.

An arson investigation is under way after fire took hold of the old Embassy snooker club in Chequers Lane, near Cambridge Street, just after 9pm.

Seven Northants Fire appliances were sent to the scene with residents and shops nearby evacuated.

It's believed nobody was injured during the incident.

Huge flames could be seen across the town with smoke visible in Finedon. The video above by Jamie Lewis shows the flames behind Matalan.

This morning (Monday) a police spokesman said the incident is being treated as arson as it's believed it was started deliberately.

No arrests have been made and no descriptions of suspects were available.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
