Armed police tackled a man using an axe to smash windows at a property in Corby early on Sunday morning.

Officers from the armed response team and the Northamptonshire Police dogs unit rushed to the property in Gainsborough Road following a 999 call at around 9.30am.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police later confirmed a 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.
