Armed officers forced their way into a property in Northampton before dismantling a long-standing cannabis farm.

One man was arrested after the raid in Brookside Meadows, Kings Heath — the seventh the Priority Area Team has conducted in the last three weeks as part of Northamptonshire Police's 100 Days of intense policing activity campaign.

Inside they seized a quantity of plants and equipment to grow to the Class B drug.

PC Aimee Holdcroft, from the Priority Area Team, said: "This was a small cannabis farm but very sophisticated with lights, extraction fans, filter systems and a lot of growing equipment showing that has been previous grows at the address as well.

"The firearms team gained entry to the front door cannabis and we found the grow upstairs. Two persons were detained with one of them arrested on suspicion of cultivating a Class B drug.

"We seize all cannabis and all things used to grow cannabis from the property so that stops anybody just going back and reproducing the cannabis grow.

"We seize things for evidential purposes and also for destruction to stop criminality.

"Growing, using or smoking is against the law. it is an illegal substance to possess and our team will look for you and we will come through your door to stop criminality"

Police kicked-off their 100 Days campaign last month with a series of similar raids throughout the county — most as a result of tip-offs and complaints from local residents.

PC Holdcroft added: "We definitely encourage people to report any suspicious circumstances or any drug dealing. You can report it by calling 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 — or simply if you see your local officer or PCSO, you can let them know."
