Police investigating an incident involving a weapon in Kettering want to trace a woman who was heard calling for help.

A 33-year-old man from Daventry has been arrested after the incident in Vale Street between 9.45pm and 10.30pm on Sunday (August 9).

Officers were called by a member of the public who said they had seen a man in the street holding what they believed to be a weapon and shouting at a woman who was heard calling for help.

The man left the scene in a dark coloured five-door saloon car.

Police then stopped a vehicle and arrested a man on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply. He has since been released under investigation pending further enquires.

Now police are keen to trace the woman involved in the alleged incident.

A police spokesman said: "She is described as white, of an average build with light brown hair tied up in a ponytail.

"She was wearing a red vest top, white shorts and a bandage on her right arm.

"The man involved in the alleged incident was also white, of an average build and wearing a red baseball cap."
