Angler fined after travelling more than 30 miles from Northamptonshire to fishing lake in Cambridgeshire

'People should not be leaving their houses in order to go fishing recreationally', warn police

An angler from Northamptonshire was given a penalty notice...by Cambridgeshire Police for travelling more than 30 miles to a fishing lake.

East Cambridgeshire Police issued the following statement: "We’ve issued three penalty notices to people from Lowestoft, Northants and Wolverhampton for fishing at the Lake at the old Mepal Outdoor centre.

"As per the Government guidance and also DEFRA, people should not be leaving their houses in order to go fishing recreationally #SaferCambs"
