Northants Police has been running Operation Viper for several months in a bid to tackle people involved in gang and drug-related crimes.

As part of the operation, 25 special constables were out in the Cambridge Street area and on the Queensway estate last night.

A spokesman for Northants Police said while they didn’t arrest anyone or seize anything, the patrols were designed to disrupt and stop criminal activity as well as provide reassurance to people and businesses in the area.

But last night’s efforts were not a one-off as the special constables have carried out 500 hours of foot patrols as part of Op Viper since the start of July.
