Healthy and active lifestyles were the key subjects at a recent issues debate held by East Northamptonshire Council.
The meeting, which took place this week, was an opportunity for members of the council to debate the future of health, sport and well-being in the district.
Opening the debate, council leader Steven North outlined the projects and strategies that will drive East Northamptonshire to be a healthier and more active place to live.
With the upcoming procurement of a new leisure management contract, councillors talked at length about the partnerships that will be built to ensure East Northamptonshire leads the way with active recreation.
Keen to emphasise that the debate was not just about sport, Cllr North added: “This is not just about sport and leisure; it is more about supporting active lifestyles.
“This is an opportunity to support our residents up and down the district in the long and short term, either through outreach work, grants or different facilities.
“The Leisure and Procurement Working Party will now meet to discuss the key points from this Issues Debate and set the scene for the future.”
