Corinthians and Whitworth pick up welcome cup wins
Both clubs are without a win in the Premier Division so far this season this season but both made progress through their first-round ties on a busy night of action in the knockout competition.
Dean Hall grabbed the only goal of the game as Whitworth beat Division One outfit Sileby Rangers at London Road.

Desborough Town fell at the first hurdle of the competition, however, as they went down 3-0 at Daventry Town.
The post-Bob Warby era at Raunds Town started with a penalty shoot-out defeat at local rivals Thrapston Town after the teams had shared a 1-1 draw.
Warby, who had taken over at Kiln Park during the summer, left the club last week and the Shopmates’ first game under the caretaker team of Mark Page and Tom Beach saw them hold Thrapston before the hosts triumphed 7-6 on spot-kicks.
