Corby youngster thanks archery group for helping him cope with his autism

Kieran Weston got in touch with the Northants Telegraph because he wanted to say thank you to Corby Archers for their help.

The youngster said it is the first archery group he has joined and its members have helped him not only learn about archery but also help him to cope with his autism.

Kieran said: “This is the first archery club that I have joined and previously I found it hard to socialise with other children.

“Corby Archers has really helped me to make friends and learn archery at the same time.”

Kieran said he wanted to give something back to the club and he is hoping his story will encourage other people to become members.

The group is for juniors and adults who practise their archery skills together.

Practice nights are held from 6.30pm to 8.30pm on Mondays at the Kingswood School in Corby, 6.30pm to 8.30pm on Thursdays at Gretton Village Hall and also from 10am to 1pm on Saturdays at Brooke Weston Academy.

A six-week induction course is available prior to requiring a club membership.

Once a member, people are able to participate at any archery club in the UK.
