Corby store donates £1,000 to good causes

The Corby branch of the mobile phone firm has chosen to donate this year’s £1,000 Vodafone Community Connection Award to the two good causes supported by mayor of Corby Julie Riley – the Northamptonshire and Warwickshire Air Ambulance Service and The Travers Foundation.

The Northamptonshire and Warwickshire Air Ambulance Service will use the award money to support its new service – Baby Ambulance and Paediatric Ambulance – which means babies needing emergency care can be flown to hospital or have a specialist team flown out directly to them.

The Travers Foundation, which supports young people (13 to 30 years) who have talent and ambitions in the arts, music or sports arena, will use the award money to help fund the education and training needed for their future careers.

Cllr Riley said: “I cannot thank Vodafone enough for their incredibly generous donation of £1,000 to my charities.

“It is always a pleasure to have such a community-minded business as part of Corby’s growing success.

“I wish Vodafone continued prosperity in the town centre and thank them again for their wonderful donation.”

Corby store manager Rav Pyro said: “We’re delighted to give the Vodafone Community Connection Award to The Mayor’s Charities.

“It’s great we are able to support two truly deserving charities in Corby, and we are really pleased to hear the award money will make such a difference.”

Vodafone’s Community Connection Awards, launched in 2014, have already made a difference to more than 100 local communities across the UK.

Selected by local Vodafone staff and aimed at supporting local causes, the awards have been used to help support everything from new equipment for soup kitchens and day centres for the elderly to helping people with disabilities to take part in sporting activities.
