A proud soldier is set to take part in the Queen’s Jubilee parade in London.

Simon Taylor, 24, is a Trooper with the Blues and Royals and will be taking part in the formal celebrations in the capital on Tuesday.

Former Lodge Park Technology College pupil Mr Taylor is based in Knighstbridge and is awaiting his first deployment as a regular soldier.

Mum Jane Rickard, of Hubble Road, Corby said: “I’m really, really proud of him. He’s in the mounted division – they are up first thing grooming and mucking out the horses, and they spend the rest of the day riding and training. But he is a soldier first and foremost.

“He said to me he is tired but excited.”

It is another milestone in a special year for Mr Taylor, who will marry his fiancee Carly Murison at St John the Baptist Church in Corby Old Village in October.
