Corby Business Academy has been given Northamptonshire’s Gold Library Award for its work to promote a love of reading.

The accolade has been awarded by Learning Resources for Education, Northamptonshire County Council’s schools library service, which launched the School Library Award in May.

The library at Corby Business Academy was praised for its efforts to encourage a love of reading and support pupils with their research. The assessor was particularly impressed with the modern facilities and the work of staff to engage all pupils through various activities including book awards, author visits and literacy initiatives.

The library also offers out-of-hours clubs and a reading mentors scheme.

To celebrate the achievement the librarians held an event called We’re Gold, Because You’re Gold where they gave awards to students who contribute to library life.
