Film fans will be able to take their seats at Corby’s new cinema when it finally opens its doors on July 31.

Work is progressing well on the new Savoy multiplex cinema in Corby town center and all is set for its official premiere next month.

Mission Impossible 5 will be the first film shown at the £6 million structure, which is being developed by Mulberry Property Developments.

Savoy Cinema’s managing director James Collington said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be able to unveil the launch date and tell everyone in Corby that we will open for business on July 31.

“As with most developments of this size, there have been a few glitches along the way which have caused some delays, but we’re on the home run now.

“We simply can’t wait to invite locals in and show them just what a great offering we have here.

“The restaurants Nando’s, Spur RBW and Prezzo complement each other perfectly, offering a meal to suit any mood and taste, and providing a diverse offering for the perfect cinema outing, whatever the age.”

Nando’s has already opened, RBW selling ribs, burgers and wings is opening next week and Prezzo has posters in the windows saying it will also be opening in June.

They will sit alongside the cinema, which is the fourth for the Nottingham-based Savoy group.

It will be fully digital and feature the latest audio-visual technology, including immersive sound and 3D viewing to bring blockbusters to life.

Screen one will offer the very latest Dolby Atmos sound system, which has been used in productions such as American Sniper and Big Hero 6.

The cinema has the capacity for up to 900 people and boasts spacious stadium-style seating.

The cinema alone has created more than 40 jobs and applications are now open for anyone interested in working there.

Further jobs have been created with the restaurants, including 38 jobs at Nando’s and 15 at RBW.

Savoy has also said it is keen to play a part in the community, and has already put this in place by working closely with the University of Northampton offering placements to students in a variety of roles relevant to their chosen degree.
