Gainsborough Road, Corby, flooded after heavy rain in December

Residents in the Gainsborough Road area of Corby are invited to a public meeting on Monday (September 29) for an update on steps to end the misery of flooding.

It is being held in the Hazelwood Neighbourhood Centre, starting at 6.30pm.

For years residents have complained about flooding in the area after heavy rain.

At the meeting families will be given an update on work carried out since the last public forum and an outline of future improvements.

They will also hear about the importance of keeping drainage systems and watercourses clear of rubbish and will be encouraged to report problems such as a build-up of debris.

The meeting will also discuss a proposal to appoint a flood warden for the Gainsborough Road area.

Attending the meeting will be representatives from Corby Council, the county council, Anglian Water, the Environment Agency and MP Andy Sawford’s office.

Local councillors Paul Beattie and Elise Elliston will also be attending.
