Pupils took a leaf out of author Michaela Morgan’s book when she visited their Corby school.

The writer, who has been shortlisted for this year’s BBC TV Blue Peter Book Award, spent two days at Studfall Infants and Nursery School where she held writing workshops.

And pupils created their very own picture book based on the visit.

Michaela, whose book Walter Tull’s Scrapbook has been shortlisted for the award, spent her time at the school working with reception to Year 2 pupils.

The were also able to enjoy her next book, Knock Knock Open the Door, which is not published until Thursday (February 14).

Michaela said: “This was a great two days, and I was really buoyed up by the enthusiasm of the children at Studfall. When I saw their own work based on the time I’d spent with them, I was very impressed. The children, teachers and assistants deserve to be very proud.”

The finals of the BBC TV Blue Peter Book Award will be announced live on television on March 7.
