Corby pupil wins cycle helmet award

A pupil from Exeter Primary School in Corby has been selected as the regional winner of Helmet Watch Scheme 2011, after being spotted wearing a helmet whilst riding his bike by Northamptonshire Police.

Eight-year-old Joshua Haigh, was among thousands of children throughout the county and region, aged between three and 15, who were given on the spot prize envelopes as a well done for wearing their helmet.

The regional prize will be presented to Joshua this coming Friday (30 March) during the last school assembly of the term by local Corby SCT Police Community Support Officer Tracey Willey.

PCSO Willey said: “We are very pleased that we have a regional winner in our town, as Helmet Watch is a great way of rewarding young people who wear a cycle helmet.”
