A Corby pub is holding a bumper two-week party to mark its first anniversary and raise money for charity.

As well as giving customers and staff the chance to celebrate, the birthday bash at The Chequered Flag in Causeway Road will raise funds for Lakelands Hospice and Corby Radio Academy.

Manager Byron Thomas said: “This pub is at the heart of the community and we are always keen to do what we can to help our local good causes.”

The fun starts on Monday with The Big Quiz at 8.30pm, followed by an event every night until Sunday, November 17.

On Tuesday children can eat for £1 and there will be a Wo(man) versus food challenge at 7pm with a flat screen television as a prize.

On Wednesday there will be bingo, from 8pm, and on Thursday a charity race night.

On Tuesday, November 12, the pub is holding its first comedy night with stand-up comic Dean Courtney and guests, from 8pm.

Other events planned include bingo, open mic and acoustic sessions and face-painting and magic shows for youngsters.

Proceeds from the events will go to the hospice and the radio academy and collections will also be held.
