A new nightclub is to open in Corby town centre before Christmas, creating up to 40 jobs and marking the beginning of the planned leisure quarter.
Lounge 66 and Rubix, which will be upstairs, will open for business on Thursday, December 6, in a former furniture store in Corporation Street.
The venture is the brainchild of business partners Jon Cowell and Les Ross who are confident the new club will see the start of a vibrant night-time economy in the shopping centre.
Mr Cowell, 34, who also runs The Feathers in Rushden, said: “We have a new cinema opening and Wetherspoons who plan to open in Grosvenor House and we hope our club will pave the way for the leisure quarter that everyone is looking forward to. We have started a Facebook page and the response we are getting is overwhelming.
“People are really looking forward to the opening.”
Lounge 66, named after the club’s address at 66 Corporation Street, will open Monday to Wednesday, from 11am until midnight, Thursdays from 11am until 2am and Fridays and Saturdays, from 11am until 4.30am. Sunday opening times have still to be decided.
Rubix, which will be upstairs and will feature music from the ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s, will open every Friday and Saturday, from 10pm until 4.30am.
The nightclub will employ up to 30 full and part-time workers as well as 10 door staff.
Mr Cowell said: “We wanted to provide Corby with something different. This has been a big investment but I’m sure it will be a great success.”
