Outside the Corby Cube on James Ashworth VC Square from 6.15 pm, Corby will be participating in a national event to mark the 100th anniversary of the war’s end when Corby mayor Cllr Mohammed Rahman will light a beacon at 7pm.

The borough’s Roll of Honour will also be read out by local cadets and music provided by Corby Silver Band.

Corby mayor Cllr Mohammed Rahman said: “Corby borough saw many soldiers go to war and fight for our country so it is an honour to be part of this commemorative event where we can all come together to remember those brave people and mark the end of the First World War.

“I hope to see lots of local people come along to pay their respects.”
