Steven Kightley, 43, of Stamford Walk, appeared at Northampton Crown Court after he admitted taking the teenager to Skegness and then sexually assaulting her in his car.

The court heard the girl had suffered from severe anxiety and was fearful about going out alone after Kightley abducted her in 2014.

Kightley also pleaded guilty to a charge of causing serious injury as a result of dangerous driving in Northamptonshire.

A passenger in Kightley’s car was left with two fractured vertebrae as well as serious hand and neck injuries after the crash.

The court heard Kightley had lost control of his vehicle after driving at excess speed in pursuit of a driver who he believed had made a rude gesture at him.

Her Honour Judge Adrienne Lucking sentenced Kightley to two years in prison for the dangerous driving, two years and four months for the child abduction, to be served consecutively, and nine months for the sexual assault, to be served concurrently.

He will also be on the sex offenders’ register for life.
