Slimmers have helped raise thousands of pounds by donating 200 bags of clothes they no longer fit into.

Members of Slimming World groups in Corby and Kettering took part in the annual Big Slimming World Clothes Throw in support of Cancer Research UK.

They bagged up clothes they’ve successfully slimmed out of in preparation for the event and collected bags of shoes, clothes and accessories as part of their weekly group session at Bombay Dynasty restaurant in George Street, Corby, on Friday.

Sonia Mathieson, who runs the Danesholme and Epiphany Slimming World groups, said: “We had an amazing day both in Corby and Kettering.

“We collected over 200 bags of clothes for Cancer Research UK.

“Consultants from Slimming World Corby collected bags at Bombay Dynasty with Kind permission from Mohammed Mujibur Rahman and consultants from Kettering met at the town’s Tesco store.

“Our members have responded fantastically and some members even collected bags from their neighbours to bring along.

“We’re delighted with the response, and with each bag worth a potential £25 we’ve hopefully helped raise £5,000.”

Members collected 120 bags last year so they nearly doubled the amount of bags collected this year.
