Corby to host '˜spectacular' firework display on Friday
Corby residents have been told to expect a spectacular firework display at the council-run event on Friday (November 4).
The display at the Corby Boating Lake is sponsored by homebuilders Barratt and David Wilson Homes, making sure it is free for the public.
The event will begin with a torchlight procession from Corby East Midlands International Pool car park led by a piper to the bonfire, which will be lit by representatives from the homebuilders.
The fireworks display is expected to kick off at 7.30pm on the night, after the bonfire is lit at 7pm.
There will be a bucket collection on the night, raising money for the Travers Foundation and Air Ambulance.
Jackie Day, sales director at David Wilson Homes South Midlands, said: “Bonfire night is a great chance for children and adults alike to come together and have fun which is why we were pleased to be able to help make the event at Corby Boating Lake happen for local residents.
“We have a number of developments close to Corby so it is great to be able to support events like this.”
Alison Raine, sales director at Barratt Homes Northampton, said: “A large part of building a new development is supporting the local community, so we’re pleased to be able to sponsor this year’s fireworks event in Corby to help bring together new and existing residents.”
Those attending are strongly advised to wear sturdy footwear and wrap up warm.
From 6pm onwards, Cottingham Road and Westcott Way will be closed until around 8.30pm.
Those who need access to the Urgent Care Centre will be given permission.
