Corby forges new army link as reserve unit moves in

A detachment of 2 Company, 3rd Battalion, The Royal Anglian Regiment, will be based at the Army Reserve Centre in Corby and train each Wednesday from 7.30pm to 9.30pm and on selected weekends.

The sub-unit paraded for the first time at their new location on Wednesday, November 16, with current reservists from their Leicester-based headquarters in attendance to give a presentation on the range of training that can be undertaken including live firing, infantry skills, sports, and adventure training.

Lt Col Keith Spiers, Commanding Officer of 3 Royal Anglian, said: “Corby is an exciting new addition to the Battalions training locations in what is one of the country’s fastest growing towns.

“In addition, we are igniting their historical links with Northamptonshire by opening a detachment in Corby.

“In 30 years’ service I have not seen a more exciting time to be a reservist with a plethora of opportunities.

“In the last year, soldiers have been deploying all around the world from between two weeks to six months. We are encouraging individuals who are willing, keen, ambitious and have a sense of adventure, to visit us and see if they would like to join.”
