A Corby firm has donated £1,000 to a school that won its Christmas card competition.

Premier Roofing Systems ran a competition to design a corporate card that linked the festive theme, the roofing industry, creativity and originality.

The overall winner was a student at Delapre Primary School, with the school scooping the £1,000 top prize.

Premier Roofing Systems director Ryan Monaghan said: “Premier Roofing Systems wanted to do something different this Christmas.

“We work with lots of schools across the county and thought it would be a festive and fun activity in the run up to December to involve some of the local children in designing our corporate Christmas card and offer them the opportunity to win their school a prize at the same time.

“We really enjoyed the judging process here in the office.

“The imagination, effort and creativity in the designs we received was fantastic.

“It was a tough decision for us all but the winning entry was well deserved – well done to the student at Delapre Primary School.”

Wilbarston School won the Under 11s category, with Hazel Leys Academy pupil Lexie Collins winning the under-sevens category.

Hazel Leys Academy principal Inga Bain said: “Hazel Leys Academy is delighted to hear the news that one of our talented children has one a prize in the competition.

“All children welcomed the opportunity to put their skills in art and design to the test.

“At Hazel Leys Academy we use behaviours that we believe impress ourselves and others.

“An invitation to take part in an activity that will be shared in the community was welcomed as part of our aim to be impressive.

“Our winner, Lexie, was very pleased and her teachers and classmates were very proud of her achievement.

“We can’t wait to see the Christmas card.

“We will use the prize to buy something for children to use in class.”

Hazel Leys and Wilbarston School each received £100.

All schools who took part will be given a complimentary roof condition survey in the new year.
