Corby curry house dal-ighted to take prestigious award

Royal Tandoori in Rockingham Road claimed the accolade at the prestigious Asian Curry Awards 2017 in London.

The curry house, which also won the award in 2015, first opened its doors as a takeaway in 1979 serving the locals of Corby and its surrounding areas.

Royal Tandoori’s proud owner Mohammed Hussain said: “We are absolutely delighted to recieve this prestigious award again amongst so many fine established restaurants.

“The trophy further cements our reputation and confidence as one of the best restaurants in the area.

“The whole team are ecstatic to win.

“What we share between us all is the passion and respect for food, the careful preparation and the catering industry as a whole, which I feel is the winning combination.

“And this has been reflected by the huge love and support from our patrons.”

In 2006, the takeaway was converted into a restaurant and has undergone three major refurbishments in the past 11 years.

Manager Mr Hussain drove the conversion from a takeaway to a restaurant, with the intention of running the business for 12 months and then handing it over back to his father and brothers.

He is still going strong 11 years later having turned down a career in IT, and is ably supported by head chef Dilal Hussain.

In 2013, the restaurant won the Curry Life Chef of the Year Award with its signature dish “Mirpuri Chicken”, a family recipe handed down by a relative.
