Staff at Corby swimming pool and Lodge Park Sports Centre will be pushing their bodies to the limit to raise cash for Children in Need.

They will be taking part in a 12-hour fitness marathon, from 8am until 8pm, at the sports centre in Shetland Way on Thursday (November 14).

As a team they will do 30,000 crunches, 30,000 press-ups, 7,000 pulls-ups and complete a 100-mile run.

That means each member is aiming to complete 1,500 crunches, 1,500 press-ups, 350 pull-ups and run five miles.

In addition, the group of 20 staff will be wearing T-shirts with the slogan Drop and Give Me 20.

Residents are invited to go along, cheer them on and pay £1 if they want a member of the team to do 20 press-ups.

Corby Council’s lead member for community, Cllr John McGhee, said: “Every year a huge amount of money is raised for Children in Need from people all over the country and it’s fantastic to see that our staff are getting into the spirit of things and going all out to raise as much money as possible for an excellent cause.

“I’m sure everyone involved will do great and I hope residents and customers will drop in and help them raise lots of money for such a worthy cause.”
