A choir group based in Corby has celebrated its 40th anniversary with two events – one in the town and one in South Wales.
Corby Male Voice Choir members hosted a dinner at Corby Masonic Hall to mark reaching the milestone.
Two of the group’s founding members, Tom Love and Barney Thomas, were made honorary vice-presidents of the choir at the event, which took place on Friday, June 24, in recognition of their sterling service.
Another member, Bill Quinn, who joined the choir a few months into its existence and served as chairman for 18 years, was also made an honorary vice-president.
Members hosted a meal and afterwards entertainment was provided by soloists and duets, as well as four songs from the choir itself.
A special guest on the evening was Carl-Heinz Jaeger, chairman of the German choir with which Corby has had relationship since 1979.
The choir finished their celebrations with a weekend visit to Burry Port in South Wales over the weekend of July 1 to 3. The Corby group took 25 members, as well as family and friends and gave a concert with the Burry Port Male Voice Choir.
