Corby is celebrating the joys of cycling this weekend with a programme of activities.
The town’s cycling festival kicks off on Thursday (August 28) with a charity family cycle ride at Rockingham Speedway, starting at 6.30pm.
On Friday (August 29) everyone is invited to The Core theatre at the Cube where there will be a special cycle-powered cinema, from 7.30pm, showing the Armstrong Lie. Tickets are free and they can be booked by calling the theatre on 01536 470470.
The rest of the events will take place outside the Cube on Saturday (August 30), between 10am and 3pm, where there will be Electric Corby’s cycle-powered smoothie maker, bike workshops with free repairs, a pedal-powered sound system, a BMX half-pipe display and have-a-go crazy bikes.
Corby Council’s cycle champion, Cllr Paul Beattie, said: “Cycling is something that is becoming very prominent in Corby, from youngsters using the ramps at West Glebe Park and signing up to use Adrenaline Alley, to people choosing to cycle to work rather than taking the car. Cycling is a more eco-friendly and healthy option to travel, so we’re happy to support this event and hopefully it will encourage more people to get on their bikes and leave the car at home.”
