A Corby-based smoothie manufacturer has developed a new range of fresh fruit smoothies and juices for Marks and Spencer.
Established more than 30 years ago, Orchard House Foods is the UK’s market leader in ready-to-eat fresh fruit products and has been working with M&S for almost three decades.
This year, Orchard House Foods has developed a variety of fresh fruit smoothies and juices that are packed full of super-fruits and vegetables from all over the world.
The firm, which employs more than 50 people, uses more than 400,000kg of fresh fruit and vegetables each week –the weight of a Boeing 747 aeroplane – as it blends and bottles 22 types of smoothies and juices.
Alex Ryder, new product developer manager at Orchard House Foods, said: “We pride ourselves on producing innovative and memorable food and work at least 12 months in advance to research what trends are going to be popular.
“Our inspiration comes from ‘Juice Safaris’, which we conduct on a regular basis covering the London juice bar market and trends from around the world.
“Over the last twelve months we’ve seen vegetable juices surge in popularity, and a demand for super-fruits, such as the Baobab, which features in a new M&S Active Juice Booster drink. We also developed juices such as the Apple, Pea, Lime and Mint Juice, which is bright green in colour and provides two of your five-a-day.”
Jenny Rea, developer at M&S, said: “M&S has a long-standing relationship with Orchard House Foods, and not only do they produce our smoothies and juices, but they create our fresh fruit salads and jellies, too.
“We very much see our relationship as a partnership and have worked together to create some really exciting products over the years. The new juices are no exception, and are proving extremely popular with our customers.”
