Opportunities are still available for young people in Kettering and Corby to sign up for a programme which aims to develop their life skills, boost confidence and improve CVs.
Youngsters aged 16 and 17 can sign up to the National Citizen Service (NCS) scheme by July 21.
Phil Everett, NCS’s communications officer, said: “The programme is a fantastic opportunity to prepare young people for the future by giving them the skills and confidence needed to apply for university and jobs, while also spending their summer having fun and meeting new people.
“So far, this is looking to be one of our most popular programmes so far, but we still have spaces left for additional young people to join – so teenagers from Northamptonshire, you haven’t missed out yet.”
The programme costs £35 and includes a weeklong stay at Lincolnshire’s PGL Caythorpe or Forest Camp High Adventure in Cheshire.
Teenagers take part in team-building activities such as rock climbing and raft building, while a second one-week residential sees participants team up with local businesses to improve their employability as well as developing a social action project, which gives them the chance to volunteer and fundraise for organisations in the community.
