The Conservative Party have retained one of their seats on Kettering Council following a by-election.

Former leader Terry Freer stood down earlier this year, creating a vacancy in the St Peter’s ward of the authority.

And following last week’s poll, Tory candidate Ian Jelley has been elected.

The results in full were:
Ian Jelley (Con): 468

Eugene Dalton-Ruark (Lab): 180

Kevin Sills (UKIP): 149

Kirsty Berry: (Green): 93

Melle Gosliga (Lib Dem): 28

Turnout was 26 per cent. The current composition of Kettering Council is now 26 Conservatives, eight Labour and two independent.

Cllr Jelley was portfolio holder for finance at Kettering Council before losing his seat at the last local elections in 2015.
