Clubs pay for scheme to help in an emergency

Emergency message in a bottle

Lions clubs in Northamptonshire have taken delivery of Message in a Bottle containers, for distribution, free of charge to anyone who requires one.

This simple idea encourages people to keep their basic personal and medical details in a common place where they can easily be found in an emergency.

The information is kept in the bottle. The bottle is kept in the fridge, where the emergency services will expect to find it in the event of being called to someone’s home. They will know you have a bottle by two recognisable labels; one is fixed on the inside of the front door or the main entrance to your home and the other to the door of your fridge.

Lions Message in a Bottle containers are expected to be available from health centres, doctors surgeries and chemists. However, anyone who has difficulty obtaining one can contact Roger or Jayne Handcock on 01933 273770 and they will ensure a local Lions club supply one, and it is free. All costs are paid for by local Lions clubs.
