A Kettering shopping centre is one of 60 across the UK taking part in ‘One Great Day’.
One Great Day is a series of family and community charity events being held throughout the month of June to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, and other children’s health charities from across the country.
Established in 2014 One Great Day has, so far, raised £150,000 and includes 46 different children’s charities.
Covering 15 million square feet of retail space across the United Kingdom, from Folkestone to Aberdeen and almost everywhere in-between.
Newlands Shopping Centre manager Neil Griffin said: “Our staff are embarking on a three-day fundraising exercise by climbing three of the UK’s high mountains from Thursday, June 2, to Saturday, June 4.
“And on the Saturday our local gym – Fit4less - are bringing in static bikes into the centre and during the day are going to see how many times they can cycle the distance between Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Newlands Shopping Centre.
“We are absolutely delighted to be a part of One Great Day.”
Michal Noe, trustee of One Great Day, said: “We are so excited to have the Newlands Shopping Centre as one of over 60 shopping centres taking part this year. We are particularly grateful to CBRE, our event sponsor, who have helped to make this happen.”
