PUBLIC-spirited youngsters put down their toys and grabbed litter-pickers when they joined volunteers for a clean-up.
Four children and their parents joined a litter-pick around the Queensway area of Wellingborough on Sunday after seeing volunteers collecting rubbish.
Adam Henley, who organised the spring clean, said: “They saw us cleaning and they asked what we were doing. We said we were cleaning and they asked if they could help.
“We couldn’t turn them away.”
A group of eight volunteers collected about eight bin bags of rubbish in Bracknell, Brentford, Greenlaw and Medwin, which are all courts off Shelley Road.
Two young offenders carrying out unpaid work also helped with the clear-up.
Cllr Henley, 38, who is ward councillor for Queensway, said: “It looks much better.”
