Children learn about fair trade

NURSERY pupils will be showing off their cooking skills and learning more about fair trade.

Students at Acorn Day Nursery in Burton Latimer will be making pancakes with banana ice cream, after the town’s Sainsbury’s donated ingredients to mark Fairtrade Fortnight.

The recipe, also provided by the supermarket, will be made by pupils at the nursery on Friday, March 30.

Richard Higson, manager at the town’s store, said: “Fairtrade Fortnight gives us the opportunity to teach school children about the importance of fair trade.

As this is our fifth year selling 100 per cent fair trade bananas, we’re delighted that Acorn have decided to participate in our banana recipe activity.

“We hope the pupils have fun and take away a better understanding of what fair trade means.”

Schools that make a

banana-themed dessert will be entered into prize draw to win Sainsbury’s Active Kids Cooking equipment.
