A night of live music is planned for tomorrow to help a Brooke Weston pupil raise cash for a month-long expedition for Borneo.
Alexander Bebb, 15, a pupil at Brooke Weston Academy, has to raise £4,500 to make the trip next month.
So far he has organised a curry night, packed bags at a supermarket and is washing dishes at a restaurant three nights a week.
Alexander, with assistance from his parents Tony and Cathy, has also helped organised a live music night called Bebb Fest.
There will be four local bands playing at the event on Friday.
The line-up consists of Corby band Mid Life Crisis, The Tin Pigeons, from Hallaton, Mia and the Moon, from Leicester, David Bower, from Uppingham.
During the expedition, Alexander, from East Carlton, and fellow schoolmates will be taking on challenges such as jungle survival camp and climbing Mount Kinabalu.
The youngsters will also spend time contributing to a community building project in a poor area, including building playgrounds, renovating village halls, building fences in community nature reserves and supporting school sports days.
Alexander said: “I am really excited about going on the expedition next month. I am especially looking forward to taking part in the building community project and climbing Mount Kinabalu with my school friends.
“My wages from my weekend job in a restaurant have also gone towards funding the trip.
“Bebb Fest is our main and final event to raise the remaining funds.
“It will be great to see as many people as possible enjoying the live music and the atmosphere.”
Alexander’s dad Tony said: “The money-raising element has been challenging for Alexander but he has got stuck in. So far, he has raised a total of £2,000 and we are hoping this festival will make up the difference.”
The Bebb Fest is at The Raven Hotel, in Corby. Doors open at 7.30pm.
