Chance for Corby’s over-50s to get creative

The Over 50s Get Creative programme is returning to The Core theatre, Corby, on Thursday, September 20, and the project is looking for new recruits.

The weekly workshops, held in The Lab at the theatre, are led by Paula Boulton, of Corby, director of Shout Youth Theatre and author of Women Of Steel, and they make full use of The Core’s facilities.

Previous workshops have included drama, creative writing, music and even ballet.

Paula said: “This is my favourite group. People over 50 tend to have life experience to bring to their creativity and give themselves permission to have fun and try something new. They have a self confidence borne of having been around for a while which is great to work with.”

Roots, Rhymes and Recollections, a collection of original sketches, poetry and songs was the culmination of last season’s Over 50s Get Creative project and it was well-received by audiences at The Rooftop Gallery, in Corby’s old Library.

The workshops are held from 1pm to 3pm and cost £3 a session.
