A star-studded fundraising golf event will return to Wellingborough Golf Club next month.
The seventh annual Leon Haslam Classic will be staged at the club in Great Harrowden on Tuesday, June 6, and is a sell-out for the fifth successive year.
Children’s medical research charity Sparks is the beneficiary of the popular day with organisers aiming to top the £17,500 event donation of 2016.
British Superbike Championship leader Leon Haslam, who races for the JG Speedfit Kawasaki team, plays host to the event.
Sparks’ golf manager Dan Smith said: “Leon’s event is one of the biggest on our annual golf calendar with many celebrities and teams coming back for the sixth or seventh time.
“It’s a great event complemented by a great evening in the impressive lawn marquee.”
Wellingborough’s 6,711-yard parkland course is the challenge during the day for the 128 golfers before the evening’s dinner and entertainment – this year hosted by popular comedian Aaron James – completes the fun-packed day.
Sparks – Sports Aiding medical Research for KidS – is now in its 26th year and has donated more than £27m to medical research since 1991 to tackle a wide range of conditions diagnosed in babies and young children.
Celebrities to have taken part in previous years include Saints rugby star Ben Foden, former England footballer Sir Trevor Brooking and actor Kevin Whately.
